WHAT WE OFFER

Worship at the center

Worship is at the core of everything we do. It centers our lives and gives us life. While we do follow the liturgy and traditions of our Lutheran heritage, we are always exploring new and imaginative ways to express the language of faith in today’s world. We blend traditional hymns with songs of praise, rich liturgy with contemporary language, timeless truths with creative expression.

You can choose a contemporary or traditional style of worship. We offer a contemporary service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., which includes a children’s message. We offer traditional worship services on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 9:00 a.m.

The sacrament of Holy Communion is part of all our weekend worship services. Members and visitors are welcome to be nourished at our communion table.

We invite you to visit one of our worship services. We’d love to meet you!

Music for all ages

From choral singing to handbell choirs, from guitar to oboe soloists, from organ preludes to Dixieland band . . . we have music that will uplift you! Music plays a vital role in our worship life together, and musicians from all age groups make joyful music of all kinds, bringing energy and life to our worship.

We also have a strong commitment to music education. Music is a part of our children’s education programs and our Child Development Center, and lessons at the St. Mark’s Music Academy help young musicians develop their talents in a safe, judgment-free environment.

Opportunities for something greater

St. Mark’s is not a “Sunday only” church. We gather on the weekend for worship and are all sent to be God’s hands and feet throughout the week. We offer faith-building programs for children and teens through music, classes, discussions, shared meals, and community service. We offer adult study classes, women’s circles, knitting and sewing groups, a book club, and adult fellowship groups.

We’re always actively participating in various community and world-wide outreach projects. We pool our physical resources and financial gifts to help people in transition, immigrant families, underfed children, the hurting, and the helpless.

In addition, we operate a Child Development Center (CDC) for children between the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years. The program focuses on each child's physical, intellectual, social-emotional, and spiritual development.  CDC is a not-for-profit, DCFS-licensed corporation and is available to St. Mark's members and non-members.
