Halloween Costumes Wanted!

Mutual Ground is looking to help the children, who visit their shelter, prepare for Halloween. They are accepting donations of new and gently used costumes and accessories. Remember that cute costume your child or grandchild wore a few years ago that is now too small? Consider donating it for another child or teen to wear. St. Mark’s will be collecting costumes September 27th through October 8th. They will be delivered to Mutual Ground on October 9th as requested. Thank you for supporting one of our Outreach partners. Questions? Contact Katie DeSotell.

October Offering (LSSI - Lutheran Social Services of Illinois)

During the month of October, we will be collecting funds to support the mission of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI). LSSI is our statewide, Lutheran social services partner. St. Mark's is already involved with LSSI in several ways:

1) We rent our parsonage next to the church to LSSI at a subsidized rate to be used for a group home for folks with autism.

2) Every month, we have many members who volunteer to distribute food at LSSI Downers Place which is affordable housing for seniors.

LSSI does SO much all over the state of Illinois.  Click here to see a great representation of their impact! They are God's hands, feet and heart for many of our vulnerable neighbors.

Why are we doing an offering for LSSI?

We are continuing to raise awareness about LSSI. In April, we celebrated LSSI Good Shepherd Sunday along with other congregations all over the state. Also in April, Molly Arnoldt, Sr. Director of Development at LSSI came and shared a presentation with the Senior Fellowship group. We are excited to welcome Molly back to St. Mark's along with Pr. Kelly Nieman- Anderson, Manager of Church and Community Engagement on November 22 and 23! Pr. Kelly will be preaching at both services. We would like to present a check to LSSI when they come to visit us.  You can donate with the envelopes found at the Welcome Center or online here.
