Join St. Mark's for the

2022 Aurora Pride Parade

Sunday June 12, starting at 12 noon

After two years of hiatus due to COVID, St. Mark's is finally able to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ neighbors again by walking shoulder to shoulder and sharing God’s love in downtown Aurora. The Aurora Pride Parade is a family-friendly event, and we hope you’ll consider bringing the kids and walking with us! It’s a great way to meet others at St. Mark’s, too. Sign up online, or at the church Welcome Center, to walk with us.

If you are not able to walk in the parade but still want to be a part of the event, feel free to bring a lawn chair along the parade route and cheer on St. Mark's. Everyone is welcome to attend! Our participation proudly proclaims that St. Mark's welcomes and affirms our LGBTQIA+ siblings.

For more information about St. Mark's commitment to welcome ALL God's children, please CLICK HERE to read our Welcome Statement. We are a designated RIC Congregation and fully participate with ReconcilingWorks: Lutherans for Full Participation as part of our call to love one another and affirm our LGBTQIA+ siblings.

HELPFUL INFO

CARPOOLING

Directly following our Sunday 10 a.m. worship service, we will gather in the church parking lot (27 E Edgelawn Dr) and carpool to downtown Aurora.

STAGING AREA

If you want to go directly to the parade staging area, head to Benton Street between River St. and Broadway before 11:30 on Sunday. St. Mark's will be in the "Yellow" section of the parade, and we'll be lining up on the south side of Benton St., east of Stolp Ave.

PARKING

The best lots for parade participants are:

  • City Lot Q on the SW corner of Benton and Water Streets (near the Yellow and Red section staging areas, and near the beginning of the parade route)
  • The lots near Santori Library on the SW corner of Benton and River Streets (near the Green and Orange section staging areas, and near the end of the parade route)

STAY HEALTHY!

If the weather heats up, remember:

  • Water - Staying hydrated means having energy to enjoy the parade!
  • Sun protection - Shade is elusive in the staging area. Hats, sunscreen, umbrellas, etc. are great ideas. Sun protection
